Sharing files
Share a single file with named people in your workspace, see everything shared with you, and revoke access when the work is over.
Most sharing in Dhanu happens by choosing where something lives — a team library is shared with the team, a project with its members. Sharing a file is the exception for when one specific person needs one specific thing.
Sharing one file
Open the file’s actions and choose Share. Search for people by name, add them, and they get access to that file — nothing else moves and nothing else opens up.
The panel lists everyone who currently has access, so “who can see this?” has a visible answer rather than an assumed one. Remove someone and their access ends immediately.
You can only share with members of your workspace. There is no public link for a file: sharing a document with the internet is not something that should happen by accident.
Shared with me
The Shared space collects everything other people have shared with you directly. It is separate from the team libraries you belong to, so a one-off handover does not get lost among your teams’ standing material.
When to share, and when not to
| Situation | Do this |
|---|---|
| One person needs one file | Share the file |
| A team needs it indefinitely | Move it into that team’s library |
| A group needs everything about one job | Put the work in a project |
| Someone outside the workspace needs it | Download it and send it, deliberately |
If you find yourself sharing five files with the same three people, that is a project or a team library asking to exist.
What sharing does not change
Sharing a file gives someone the file. It does not give them the task that produced it, the folder around it, or anything else in your space — and it does not move the file out of the space it lives in.
